An important part of our mission at the Calgary Calabrese Cultural & Heritage Society is to support the next generation of Calibrians. Through our scholarship program, we empower students to pursue their academic and professional goals while connecting them with their Calibrian roots. Investing in our students helps our future generations continue the Calibrian legacy of hard work and building community.

Academic scholarship

Our Academic Scholarships support students pursuing higher education in subjects like the sciences, humanities, business, and the arts. These scholarships are designed to recognize excellence in academic performance and leadership skills.

Our Technical Scholarships support students pursuing education and training in practical, hands-on fields such automotive, healthcare, construction, culinary, and more. These scholarships are designed to recognize students who want to advance their skills in the trades.

Who can apply?

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for a scholarship, students must meet specific criteria that demonstrate dedication to their educational and community goals. Whether you are pursuing academic excellence or technical skills, please review the eligibility requirements to see if you qualify for our scholarships.

1. Calabrese descent

The applicant must be of Calabrese descent (someone on the mother’s side or the father’s side of the applicant must have originally been from the region of Calabria, Italy. This includes parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, etc.)

2. High school completion

The applicant must have completed high school (Grade 12) in the designated school year (refer to the application form).

3. Local education

The applicant must have attended high school in Calgary or surrounding areas.

4. Post-secondary enrolment

The applicant must be enrolled in a post-secondary institution. (Proof of registration must be shown before awarding of scholarship).

5. Academic standing

The applicant must maintain good academic standing.

6. Exemplary citizenship

The applicant is an exemplary citizen.

7. Banquet attendance

The applicant must attend the annual banquet in January if selected as the successful candidate.
